Beat you to it. The struts are at work waiting to get painted. :-)
To refute Peter the blacksmith, the advantage to a hardtail is Handling. They'll stick to the road all the way into the ditch, unlike a swingarm, which will wash out fairly quickly or let the pegs bottom out before the handling is gone.Every bike I've had before this one (excluding the Honda CB350F) was either a real or conversion hardtail. The ride is kind of rough (at times), but a good sprung seat and a decent front end will make up for it.

PS: The struts are really for rally use only, since a bolt on strut is not as good strength wise as a welded in unit.
